Creating an Import Template with DAT Software
NOTE: THIS INFORMATION APPLIES TO A NOW UNCOMMON SITUATION
The following instructions apply to the DAT software and its live & daily databases. PostEverywhere is not affiliated with DAT in any way. PostEverywhere provides files that can be quickly and easily imported into the DAT posting software for both live and daily listings.
Creating an Import Template with DAT Software
- Once you have created an export file with PostEverywhere, open your DAT software and press the Import button along the left side of the screen. This will open the Import Window.
- The Import window has two fields: one for the template, and one for the data file. The first time through you must make a template. Click the Edit Templates button to open the Define Templates window. Fill in the following values on the Define Templates window to create a template to import PostEverywhere data:
- Type a name for your template. For example, PETemplate.
- Set the Record Format to Comma Separated Values.
- The Default options do not matter because they are specified in the data file created by PostEverywhere. Do not be confused by this area. You only need to create one template to import PostEverywhere files for Loads, Trucks, Daily, or Live. Each file exported by PostEverywhere has values specifically set defining these values. As a result, the Default options on this template will not be used and it does not matter what the values are.
- Next, enter the sequence of fields by typing numbers into the sequence column. Start with 1 at the top and proceeding through to 21 at the bottom. It is important to enter the sequence exactly as instructed for the import function to work properly with the PostEverywhere export file.
- Be sure to press the Save button, which is located in the upper left part of the screen, just below where the template name is entered. Now this template will be on the drop-down list in the DAT import window. This template will work for loads and trucks either full or partial, posting to either the live or the daily database.
Using an Import Template with DAT Software
